Well, no, not really. It's basically to tell the reader what move is being used. Even the pose for the "Kamehameha" doesn't need to be done, as proof of SSj2 Gohan when Cell shot a Kamehameha in Full Power at him trying to destroy the Earth as a last ditch effort, Gohan simply muttered Kame...Hame... then yelled HA! and shot the attack. Neither the pose nor the words need be spoken.
