We are talking about a movie which isn't canon, Gokuu recieved the major Toei power-up and he did better against Hirudegarn than Chou Gohan or SSJ3 Gotenkusu, in that movie he was the strongest character, so yes he did powered up like 5x his previous strenght (At least according to Toei). You still gotta have a lot of power to perform a the dragon fist technic you can't say he won only because he found his weakness since his weakness was one of Gokuu's technic and there was nothing unfair.
I suggest you to edit your post since SSJ3 Gotenkusu can't be stronger than Gogeta, think about it, if SSJ3 Gokuu was able to kill Hirudegarn just imagine what Gogeta would do to him.
