Re: The Modern Generation
A/N: Hey everyone *sees no one*, well I don't see why I used to be upset with no reviews, this is much better. I get to express myself with no deadlines to meet and maybe some invisible reader or two. Lol this chapter has been written for quite some while but I was too lazy to post. Oh and for new readers that might someday read this. There are going to be some concrete changes from the previous chapters in terms of style. Thoughts will be in this format : 'thought'. And every character name will be American except Bulla. I just can't call her Bra and maybe some more crappy names I can't think of right now.
Another thing, I still have to talk to the MODs about this font-pconfusion. I mean if you are analytical the last paragraph has a different font that I can't change without rewriting (and I'm too lazy for that) so just bear with it for now. Now then off to the next chapter: *waits for applause*...*waits for applause*...*dies of old age*

Chapter 7: General Yestran arrives
Last time on The Modern Generation Gohan and Goten were close to starting a family feud, however Goten caved in at the last moment and admitted his mistakes, now he's come back better than ever...And they will need him against this force that's heading towards Earth. In what way does this force threaten our heroes? Find out on The Modern Generation!
He was close now…better start making the preparations. General Yestran opened his eyes fully to confirm his assumptions. He was right; Earth was closing in now. Somehow there was something eerily familiar about this planet to Yestran. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it. He had seen pictures of it from the computer database back at the main spaceship. But now that it was in front of him, it was somehow different. The General shrugged off his thoughts and began taking action as the ship eased closer and closer to the Earth.
The ship was larger than the traditional traveller’s space ship. Usually a ship contained only room for the passenger, especially in a space pod. The cone-shaped ships had a bit more room and comfort but they were still a one-man ship. This one had three rooms, in spite of this however it was still appropriate for one man. The fact that the ship had only one seat at the front justified this, although two men would fit in emergency situations but it was obvious that the ship was designed for the luxurious traveller, such as General Yestran.
The General went into the back room, it was very circular compared to the other ones and at the very back of it sat what appeared to be large refrigerator with water vapour emanating from it. Yestran paused for a moment as if considering something and then made his way towards the refrigerator, shivering a little as he approached it.
‘Damn this sack cost me a fortune, I shouldn’t waste it on these petty low levels’
He turned away from the refrigerator and took three steps back to the front room- He halted again and forcefully made his way back to the refrigerator.
‘This is not my decision to make, and its best that I don’t defy the lord.’
He regretfully opened the refrigerator door and revealed a large heavy sack sitting on the top shelf with ice covered on certain patches. The General started at it for a moment and then outstretched his gloved hand for a second. A tiny golden light glowed from the centre of his palm and the sack levitated itself out of the refrigerator and hovered beside the General’s head. Meanwhile he closed the refrigerator door and made his way back to the front compartment, the sack followed him obediently before settling down snugly on a tiny reserved space on the ship’s ground.
At Kame house Master Roshi was listening to one of his favourite exercise tapes while the others were in a feverish discussion.
“I don’t see why I can’t come with you guys”
“Tien, these guys are way out of your league I’m telling you this as a friend.” Gohan was gesturing with his hands to prove the point that he was making.
They had all felt the ki that was coming towards them and had thus made a plan to meet at Kame house to see what they could come up with.
“I can always find a way to help Gohan, I’ve gotten stronger” pleaded Tien, he was being very stubborn.
“I don’t understand why this battle is so important to you, we can’t waste lives” interjected Goten.
Tien turned to Goten and scoffed, he didn’t know that Goten had made a resolution to change from his old ways so he still regarded him as a slacker.
“We won’t be wasting lives, I don’t see why we can’t come along like before.”
“You almost got killed before” – It was Trunks this time, he leaned his head forward into the conversation. “But I’m stronger now, I’ve found my peak again, I know I can help.”
“Oh come on Tien, let it go we can never compete with these guys, maybe if we were still younger, but face it buddy, its all downhill from here.” It was Krillin this time. He and Yamcha weren’t as eager to enter the ring again. They had gone the last time but now they knew that they had reached their limitations they were about to step down.
“Besides Tien, Gohan says this guy is as strong as Trunks and we can also feel that there is something that’s not right about him either its making my senses go berserk.” As Yamcha spoke everyone looked at Tien’s reaction.
Gohan was the one who had confronted him about this, he had sensed what Tien’s intentions were and confronted him about it in the present situation otherwise Tien would’ve gone without a thought but he had to give up, everyone was against him. It was a bit senseless, but he had been on the sidelines for too long and he didn’t like it. The feeling of battle had be aroused in him when he had that near-death experience back at the battlefield, it had the opposite effect on Krillin, Chiaotsu and Yamcha though.
“Another thing everybody, don’t tell Vegeta about this. He’s bound to come sooner or later when he senses the power levels but we should put an end to it quick before he can come.” Gohan said this with uncertainty. Sure the power level was low enough for him to obliterate and he didn’t suspect that this person had a power-up or a lethal attack, which could finish him off, but something about his aura was not right. He was hiding something, something evil. Things were not as they seemed and everyone knew it. The aura they felt was not right. There was something beyond this apparent fight to the death.
Krillin opened his mouth to say something but he was interrupted by the harsh sound of Gohan phasing away. “What the—” They all looked around at each other. What was Gohan pulling? Then they sensed it. A ki beam had been hurtling towards the planet, Gohan had sensed it before them and had gone to stop it.
“Amazing…” remarked Krillin
“That was just a test. This guy’s messing with us” Trunks said seriously, his eyebrows were furrowed and his fists were clenched.
General Yestran’s palm crackled with the remains of the minute ki that was left from the attack.
‘That was rash’ he narrowed his eyes and smiled ‘if I had destroyed the planet than the lord’s plan would’ve been ruined, I’d better watch out’
Gohan sighed in relief. That had been too close for comfort. The ki blast was coming at a great velocity he reached it in the nick of time and disarmed it with his fist. A few more seconds and they would’ve all been doomed.
‘Whoever you are, I’m ready for you.’ The seasoned warrior looked at the direction at which the power was coming from and then hurtled away back to his friends. He could just attack the assailant head on; it would be the last thing he’d expect and had a high chance of success. He could sense that the power the ship was inferior to his, but he knew it would be foolish to assume such things before a fight started, no matter the odds. Gohan smiled, ‘besides, if Vegeta found out that I destroyed this guy by myself, he’d go nuts!’
No, it was better this way. Even if Gohan’s resolve had changed as these thoughts went by, it would be too late because he had already arrived at Kame house with breakneck speed.
“What happened Gohan?” Trunks had already felt Gohan’s descent on the island and was out before the others by a fraction of a second. He had a solemn expression on his face, not dissimilar to the one he had worn before the attack had first been spotted. The others also wore a similar expression. Gohan however—
“Oh it was nothing, just a ki blast that could’ve potentially destroyed the earth, guess these guys are off to a good start huh?” after this remark, Gohan stretched his arms in aloofness as sweatdrops formed at the back of his peers’ heads. His good humour had not rubbed itself on the others.
“Gohan I sense him, he’s already here don’t you think we should go?” demanded Trunks urgently. These days they all looked to Gohan to make decisions, it was pathetic but in a way everyone knew he’d know the right thing to do. He had his father’s power but with an intellect to match, granted that his will power and endurance came no close to Goku’s but he still had an authority to be revered.
“Nah just stay put and relax, I have a feeling he’ll be coming to us.” Replied Gohan as he proceeded to stretching to his legs.
Everyone looked at him with disbelief, they could all feel it, not the power but the danger and yet he was oblivious to it. Was he being cocky? Did he have a plan? Did he know what it was? Or maybe did he not sense the danger lurking from beneath such a power? No that couldn’t be it, everyone knew that Gohan had a heightened sense about everything.
“Uh-oh”
Now Gohan’s attention spiked up and his expression turned grave as well in response to Trunks’s remark. Uh-oh was right.
“Dad…he’s heading straight towards it.”
“That’s not good” said Goten inching a foot forward as if ready to ascend to the skies if need be.
“Trunks, Goten you guys go I’ll catch up.” Gohan was now expressionless he just continued in his stretching as the two warriors whom he had just addressed looked at him bafflingly. After a moment had passed and the statement had been absorbed they looked at each other and nodded.
Two pearly white auras flashed around the demi saiya-jin and they hurtled towards the direction, which Vegeta was so close to. They could never catch up now; he was way too close. It would be a couple of minutes before they arrived and by that time it could be too late. The power they sensed was obviously inferior to Gohan’s but also obviously superior to Vegeta’s full strength.
General Yestran arrived at a clearing. He couldn’t describe it, he had been here before no doubt. Then flashes of distant memories came into his mind. His eyes widened in realization.
This was that planet.
He was about to reflect on more but his train of thoughts was interrupted as an annoying speck of light appeared on the horizon. General Yestran groaned, he could sense the power level emitting from it and he knew this was no threat.
‘This was the man who defeated Blug though, I’ll teach him a lesson he’ll never forget.’ With this thought in mind he couldn’t refrain from chuckling cockily.
“Well, well, well if it isn’t another space goon here to be destroyed!” The spiky haired warrior had now arrived within a few meters of the General who was still as relaxed as could be. Vegeta smiled cockily, his arms were traditionally across as if in superiority but General Yestran’s poise didn’t need any movement, standing was enough to show he was no pushover.
“That’s quite some entrance you’ve made, I’d ask you to teach me how to execute such a task but I know you will be too ill-disposed in a few minutes time” – the General sighed mockingly “oh well I guess I’ll have to find someone else…too bad”
“Fancy talk for someone on the losing side of a battle” Vegeta’s answer was swift- too swift. He was already annoyed by this presence and he was ready to beat this guy to a pulp if he had to.
“Wait a minute, aren’t you…Vegeta?” asked Yestran
At this Vegeta grinned evilly, oh how he loved this part. This was one of the things he had missed from his old days as a space pirate, respect for his name.
“That’s right. I guess now you know whom you’re dealing with. I guess now you don’t fancy your chances as much, ho ho you must be wetting your underwear right about now.” Vegeta said cockily,
General Yestran didn’t react to this and acted as if he had heard nothing.
Vegeta closed his eyes and subsided a wide smirk.
“Hehe I guess you’re speechless with fright, I don’t blame you. The man I was in my old days was a weakling compared to what I’ve become today. However I didn’t expect anyone to remember my power since I’ve been settled here for such a long time. I guess I’m a legend up there in whatever puny planet you’re from.”
Vegeta looked up at the General who still did not react.
He waited.
Nothing.
“Tell me ingrate, in what is it that makes me famous the most up there? The fact that I’m the prince of the mighty saiya-jins or the fact that I’ve achieved the Super saiya-jin state that had not been achieved for centuries?”
“Actually…I’m surprised to see that you’re on terms with these earthlings. The last I saw of you was on the database and you were stupidly battling a warrior who was no doubt superior to you referring to him as…Kakarot I think?”
Now General Yestran meant to wound Vegeta’s ego but he didn’t know he hit such a sore spot, after all he hadn’t done his homework properly the last he had seen of the Z warriors’ adventures was in the midpoint of the battle against Nappa and Vegeta. So what came next General Yestran didn’t expect.
A vein popped up on Vegeta’s temple and, instantly a golden aura surrounded him with a furious sound. The super saiya-jin charged at his opponent and punched him with all the strength he could muster from his right arm.
General Yestran went reeling back with shock; he hadn’t expected that. First of all he didn’t know of the super saiya-jin power-up so that obviously caught him by surprise and second he didn’t know Vegeta was going to react so furiously like that- and so abruptly so he was caught completely off-guard and was dealt with a good blow to the jaw. He felt blood trickling down his lower lip already. This angered him. Vegeta tried to follow-up his punch with another but this time his efforts were anticipated.
General Yestran caught the punch with minimal effort, an anger etched on his delicate features. “You stupid little man” Yestran spat and before Vegeta could react he gave him a quick blow to the gut.
Vegeta’s golden spikes instantly reverted back to their coal black form along with his blue pupils, he stared in disbelief for a fraction of a second before losing consciousness altogether and falling heavily to the ground.
‘He’s not completely useless; he’s not dead at least. Not many people can survive that. I’ll finish him later once I get this business done.’ Yestran wiped the blood off his chin disgustedly and turned back towards his spaceship, he grabbed the innocent sack that was sitting inside it and dragged it across the heavy terrain a few meters from Vegeta.
He grabbed it by its rear and emptied its contents gently, still cursing from the blow that had been dealt by that “inadequate fool”. Mounds of what appeared to be slimy sludge seeped out of it with a loud splotch. It appeared to have a pink-violet hue but it varied from side to side.
The General calmly focused his attention on a small area of the terrain next to it. His eyes briefly glowed and a hole was formed in the place he had been focusing upon. With a swift movement of his forefinger the sludge miraculously levitated itself from the ground and entered the fissure that just happened to be the right size for the sludge.
‘Damn and to think what I paid for it- just to be wasted upon these inferior weaklings’ at this he glared at Vegeta’s motionless body. He’d be dealt with in a few moments however on the edge of his senses he could feel a new presence arriving, no two. Two people: much stronger than this one, maybe a challenge to his power. He had better do this quickly before they arrived or the plan would be folly.
He hurried over to the gap and covered it with some desert soil from the terrain itself. Then he put both palms over the area-
They were quickly closing in now.
His palms glowed and emitted a silver light upon the hole, he looked back he could see them in the distance now. One had black hair, similar to the one he just “fought” and the other had brighter characteristics. He had better make it.
Then his palms stopped glowing and a grin crept upon the ruthless man’s face. A small earthquake ensued and a few cracks here and there formed and then everything settled. All that was left was the sack that had tiny amounts of the sludge left in it.
Trunks and Goten descended to find the General smiling as if welcoming them.
“Dad!” Trunks cried and hurried over to this father, he bent over him. Goten remained fixedly in the same spot he had descended and shot deathly glares at this new adversary before them.
“Don’t worry, the fool is alive…for now.” Uttered the General gently, had the words been taken for tone only, you’d have thought they were words of kindness..
“Oh you’re gonna pay for this, who the hell are you?!” Trunks looked up as he bellowed this, one of his hands rested upon Vegeta’s chest while the other was clenched into a fist in General Yestran’s direction.
“Calm down Trunks. He’ll have plenty of time to talk after we’re through with him.” Said Goten in a Gohan-esque manner.
Trunks glared at General Yestran with pure hatred for a few seconds before closing his eyes and smiling. A slight emotion of surprise could be detected from General Yestran, but it only lasted for about a millisecond or so as he reverted back to his aloof position.
Trunks stood up and he and Goten and met halfway and stood next to each other. They both smiled confidently and prepared their fighting stances against General Yestran. The wind blew furiously as if edging for the fight to begin but the warriors were in no hurry, they glared at each other to see who would win the first battle: that of intimidation.
EDIT: heh guess I'm not so lazy after all...oh and this was done without proof reading so there might be some errors
